There were no other running Fusion instances. I am running my startup disk without RAID, but my Users folder is on RAID-0 (which has the Fusion files.) The problem crops up when Retrospect is backing up the system while Fusion is running, but only intermittently - meaning that it doesn't happen on every backup.įusion was running SLES 10 SP 1 with 1.5gb ram and 2 virtual CPUs and had been running OK for a few days. I am also experiencing problems with the latest Fusion 1.1.2 and possibly RAID-0. Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task Might have to go back to 1.0 if this keeps up: The VMs are on a RAID 0 array (software RAID) internal to the machine.Īlso, just got another kernel panic. The corrupted RAID array is on an external RocketRAID 2314. The external RAID volume that got corrupted had nothing to do with the VMs. System model name: MacPro1,1 (Mac-F4208DC8) According to the dump, it's putting the blame square on Fusion. I would very much appreciate someone at VMWare looking at this and seeing if something can't be done. The Apple Disk utility couldn't fix it, so I had to buy DiskWarrior (which managed to recover it). Not only that, it caused my 2 Terabyte external RAID array to become corrupted. Within 5 minutes of my upgrade to Fusion 1.1, I got the attached kernel panic. Running a FreeBSD VM and a Windows XP VM. Dual quad core, 9 gigabytes of memory, ~4 Terabytes of disk space. This is a fresh machine.System is Mac Pro running 10.5.1, VMWare Fusion 1.1. this iMac was bought on June 7th of 2008, two weeks after the factory warranty expires. Please someone point out how much of an idiot I am for not putting a check in a checkbox somewhere, for not selecting what I was supposed to select, or for letting my GF buy a Mac in the first place.Įxtremely dejected, any advice or clarity would be much appreciated.ĮDIT > I just wanted to add. Selecting the two available volumes results in failure. My external hard drive (USB) is not there to utilize as a working volume. I see the 4GB "Boot Volume", the bootable Data Rescue Drive. Now I get to choose "Select Working Volume". I choose to scan the "Macintosh HD" (and all other options after the nefarious step detailed below).ģ. I Select Drive to Scan (I can see my external hard drive in this list). Now i've bought Data Rescue II at the price of $120.00 CAD and it appears to have rescued sweet **** all.Ģ. So i've bought DiskWarrior at the price of $130.00 CAD and it has availed me not as it could not rebuild what was broken.
